Spectrum: Layang-Layang–Yuan Leow Yunn

RM50–Dcard Member

The performances presented by DPAC always involves the exploration of various elements.

Last year, “Spectrum” was very well received by the audience and once again this September over four nights, the Damansara Performing Arts Center (DPAC) will gather renown local musicians for another musical feast.

This time, the arrangement and presentation of the songs will be based on the interpretation of oriental classical and Western classic instruments, and the addition of musical instruments with strong Malaysian characteristics.

“Layang-layang” is the Malay word for kites. Floating and elegant; kites leaving vivid colors in the blue sky. The sky represents the mood of people; color is the trajectory of music.

The music of Yuan Leow Yunn can be likened to kites, bringing joy to music enthusiasts.

This “Layang-layang” performance contains the most satisfying works in the music career of Leow Yunn. The songs are diverse, including Malaysian folk music, Chinese music and Western music.

In this concert, the audience will hear and feel the crisp sound of gamelan; the temperament of the zhongruan, guqin and erhu; the new tunes of the piano and cello.

A variety of different musical colours are mixed to create a lively and harmonious melodic bouquet.
