Why Seri Tioman 1?
August 1, 2018 |
This program at Perumahan Awam Seri Tioman 1 was initiated by DiverseCity, the producer of the annual KL International Arts Festival.
DiverseCity advocates, develops and invests in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people’s lives. It supports a range of activities across genres from theater, digital art, music to literature, fine art and crafts.
Its philosophy embodies the belief that arts and culture impact people, health and well-being, education, society and the economy in many positive ways.
We believe that arts and culture inspire and bring diverse communities together; they educate us about ourselves; and help us to appreciate other cultures around the world. Arts and culture enrich quality of life and promote harmony.
From photographers to architects to designers to consultants to students to corporate directors, we have set aside many days and weekends to engage with the community and understand their real needs.

Nestled at the foothills of the western borders of Kuala Lumpur, lies a cluster of low-cost housing apartments. One of them is Seri Tioman 1, managed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
It is a light-filled and breezy space with 2 playgrounds, a childcare centre, surau and cybercafe.
3 L-shaped blocks sit on 9.31 acres, hug 2 courtyards and contain 420 apartments, each apartment is about 575 square feet.
Seri Tioman 1 has it’s own Residents’ Committee, elected annually, and currently chaired by Amin (Aminuddin Mustapha).
