KL DiverseCity kicked off Project Komuniti Kita at Apartment Putra Ria in Kerinchi with an activity for the children on 14th September 2019. We started out with a fun and lively dance class that was held in the community hall in Putra Ria.

This first session began with a brief introduction to the children about the programmes that we plan to do with them followed by a registration of the participants for the first session. There were about 9 eager little dancers who quickly rushed to register and wanted the class to begin.

The class was conducted by Mohd Nuriqram bin Azhar, a dancer from National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA). He began with a quick introduction to the dance that they are about to learn in this session. Like in the other locations before this, the types of dances that will be taught in this class are traditional Malay dances.

The kids were very excited to learn the steps as there were many smiling faces when Nuriqram began teaching the steps. Their faces then turned to immense focus as they rehearse the dance moves following the rhythm of the music as the class goes on.

Some of the parents and even grandparents of the children joined in as they watched the children catch on the dance moves quickly. The class ended at 12.00pm with many of the participants excitedly ask when would be the next session.
