Leading up to this grand launch and the start of the KL International Arts Festival 2019, KL DiverseCity, together with the aid of the venue sponsor Intermark Mall, had organised a its first-ever community engagement programme. This programme acts as the pre-festival line up that would lead to the official launch of the KLIAF2019 and the programmes to come from September to October.
The launch itself had a number of performances, 2 of which were part of the pre-festival line ups. They were Hands Percussion, who prepared the students of Fugee School in their Drum For Hope performance, and Studio 2 who prepared a special ‘Merdeka’ themed poem. The other performance was prepared and conducted by Cinzia Ciaramicoli.
On the day of the launch, all the performers came at 10 am to Intermark Mall to prepare for the grand launch. Even the festival organisers were on the ready as they coordinate with all those involved in preparing of the launch. Cinzia and her giant puppets gets ready outside to welcome the honoured guests.
At the same time, Hands Percussion got themselves set up for a welcoming performance once the ‘giants’ ushers the honoured guests into the mall. Patrons of Intermark Mall were treated to a preview of the special welcoming performance as they had a round of practice once they have done their set up.
Studio 2 on the other hand also had their own practices on Interart 313 to further perfect their performance for the honoured guests. Determination can be seen in their eyes as they prepare for their performance in front of the honoured guests.
