Welcome back! Last year, DiverseCity organised several programs at the Seri Tioman 1 public housing flats (PPR) wich was met with warm welcomes and received very well by the residents living there. This year, we are back with more fun and activities.
One of the activities we started off with was a dance class for the children of the PPR flats. A special teacher was brought in from the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA). There were about 20 children who came and joined in the fun. They all showed great interest and enthusiasm while learning the dance moves instructed by the invited teacher.
The dance class was conducted outdoors on the badminton court. Many of the other residents were able to watch as the children carefully learnt the steps. The class had attracted the attention of many passersby as well as the residents who peered out from their windows with interest on what was going on.
From the look of the bright faces of those who attended, the children enjoyed the session. A parent even showed her support to the activities by providing refreshments for the children as well as the teacher and members of the organising team.
Here are some photos from the dance class.
